Book Design

I focused on designing and writing a book that communicates a story of a kid with a need to succeed but society is against him. This push and pull of society drives the kid through a series of decisions based on his racial and economic background and opportunity. At the end, the book becomes more of an existential discussion of morals, character, and determining what is needed versus what is wanted. The book's imagery contains psychedelic stimulants merged with a 'street urgency' mindset. The patterns within the work are created in a way to cause a sense of impatience and time. There is a strong relationship between the mindful setting it takes place in as well as what the typography says and how it says it.
